Red CentreNATS gearing up with spectator tickets now on sale

The ultimate festival of wheels, Red CentreNATS (RCN), gets pulses racing each year in Alice Springs, and you can see all the action for yourself with spectator tickets now on sale. In great news for motor enthusiasts, this year’s program includes some exciting new additions.

Now in its ninth year, the festival, delivered by Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC) and event partner Summernats, attracts thousands of people to the Red Centre for three days of heart-thumping action, including burnouts, drag racing, 4WDing, the Yeperenye Shopping Centre street parade and Lasseters Motorkhana.

Some of the most unique vehicles in Australia will be on show, with spectators able to enjoy all sorts of four- and two-wheeled antics, as well as meet the owners behind the cars at the Shannons Show ‘n’ Shine, a fan favourite.

Summernats Co-owner Andy Lopez said he couldn’t be more excited to be heading back to Alice Springs to help put on another great Red CentreNATS.

“This ninth event will see some significant additions to the program that entrants and spectators alike will love, as well as all the parts of the event that make it a must-see festival on the motorsport calendar,” he said.

“We’ve worked hard to grow the event as we build towards our next big birthday when Red CentreNATS turns 10 in 2024.

“Anyone who has been to RCN in the past will see this time round that it continues to evolve as it maintains its place as an event icon in Australia’s incredible car and bike scene.”

RCN is unique as being the only place in Australia where you can legally drive your highly modified vehicle on the roads, and the spectacle continues all weekend as drivers cruise the streets in their souped-up rides.

Northern Territory Major Events Company CEO, Suzana Bishop said We’re always striving to make our events stand out, and add innovative ideas to our programs.

“We do this to provide more reasons for new visitors to attend, and for repeat visitors to return. Red CentreNATS in particular has huge numbers of people who come back every year, and we’re looking forward to providing new opportunities for them to enjoy,” she said.

Red CentreNATS continues to grow, offering more attractions for spectators and entrants alike. New this year is the Motorvation Supercruise, which gives every entrant the opportunity to power skid their way down the Alice Springs Inland Dragway. Another first is the new Platinum Pass, which includes, among other things, a souvenir ticket, VIP area at the Podium Party, reserved parking, express entry and a merch kit.

Independent research found last year’s RCN generated a total expenditure stimulus in the Northern Territory of $6.9 million. A huge 90 per cent ($6.2 million) of this was new money that would not have been injected into the Territory economy if the event had not taken place.

RCN will take place from September 1-3. Early-bird tickets start at just $35 and can be purchased at www.redcentrenats.com.au
