Red CentreNATS automotive extravaganza this weekend!

All roads leading to Alice Springs have been heaving this week, with hundreds of car enthusiasts making the annual pilgrimage to the heart of the country for Red CentreNATS.

The iconic event features a massive program spanning three venues; Alice Springs Inland Dragway (ASID), Blatherskite Park and Lasseters Centre of Entertainment.

NT Major Events CEO Tim Watsford said Red CentreNATS is a must-do on the Territory’s events calendar.

“It’s no surprise that entrants and spectators keep coming back each year for an unforgettable automotive weekend paired with the region’s incredible tourism experiences,” he said.

Commonly referred to as Australia’s Ultimate Festival of Wheels, Red CentreNATS continues to draw huge crowds each year, and is the only event in Australia where entrants can legally drive highly modified, unregistered vehicles on the open road thanks to a special temporary permit and regulations.

Event organisers have raised the bar in 2022 with an even bigger program boasting everything from the Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship and Top Doorslammer Australia to Burnout Masters, Yeperenye Street Parade, Great Northern 4WD course, show cars, Shannons Show ‘n’ Shine, grass driving, Lasseters Motorkhana and much, much more.

Summernats co-owner Andy Lopez said he was stoked to be back in Alice with thousands of motorheads for this year’s Red CentreNATS.

“It has to be the most unique motoring festival in Australia. Elite show cars, Burnout Masters, Top Fuel drag racing, a massive street parade, and best of all, crazy modified cars safely cruising the streets of Alice. There is nothing else like this show in the world,” he said.

New at Red CentreNATS this year will be an official round of Mulletfest, a Pub Choir sing-a-long, exciting motorcycle and bike stunts as part of the Eljay Freestyle Entertainment Show and the Red CentreNATS wedding!

Red CentreNATS Wedding Winner Bonnie Sykes said it’s been an unforgettable week travelling all the way from Canberra to Alice Springs for Australia’s Ultimate Festival of Wheels.

“Joel and I are thrilled to be in the Red Centre to most importantly get hitched, but also to be able to cruise the streets of Alice and participate in as many scheduled events as we can while we are here,” she said.

“We are so excited to see everyone at Red CentreNATS and finally tie the knot!”

Red CentreNATS wraps up on Sunday night with a Podium Party at Lasseters Centre of Entertainment featuring AC/DC tribute band High Voltage.
