Exciting new events on the horizon

The Territory’s events calendar is set to grow after 11 new events received funding through our latest funding round.
They include the Dark Skies Festival in Alice Springs, a week-long celebration of our incredible star-studded skies, and the Top End Feastival, a foodie extravaganza to showcase our world-class produce.
In total, 29 events received funding, including a range of favourites such as Wide Open Space Festival and Desert Festival in the Red Centre, Darwin Lions Beer Can Regatta and Top End Gran Fondo in Darwin, and the Junk Sculpture Festival in Katherine.
“We saw an incredible response to our most recent funding round, which is great news after such a tough year for events,” Northern Territory Major Events Company CEO Tim Watsford said.
“Organisers of existing events are keen to develop their offerings, and we have a raft of exciting new events in the pipeline.
“This is great news for visitors and locals alike, and there looks like being plenty to do in the Territory throughout 2021 and beyond.”
Community Event grants up to $30,000, for events that share the Territory’s rich history and culture, and Event Development grants, from $30,000 to $100,000 for events that attract new audiences and encourage visitation, were available.
For a full list of successful recipients, see below. The next funding round opens in May, with funding awarded in July 2021.
