Bright Future For Red CentreNATS And Alice Springs Region

Central Australia will continue to reap the benefits of the Red CentreNATS car festival after the Northern Territory Government secured another four-year agreement with event partner Summernats.

The agreement will see the ultimate festival of wheels take place in Alice Springs every year until 2025.

Red CentreNATS is a premier event that draws hundreds of competitors from across Australia to the heart of the country over the Fathers’ Day weekend, resulting in a massive economic boom for the region.

Summernats Co-owner Andy Lopez said Alice Springs is the perfect location for what has become an amazing automotive festival.

“It’s terrific to see the town buzzing in the weeks leading up to Red CentreNATS. Everyone’s working to have their rides ready to cruise, race, show, burnout or just hang out,” he said.

“We’ve seen seven incredible Red CentreNATS events in Alice bring thousands of petrolheads to one of the most beautiful and iconic parts of Australia. And now we’ve got four more years.”

Securing the event for another four years provides certainty to thousands of Red CentreNATS fans who make the pilgrimage to the event each year.

Last year almost 40 per cent of entries came from interstate.

This year’s event, which will take place from 3-5 September across three venues (Blatherskite Park, Alice Springs Inland Dragway and Lasseters Centre of Entertainment) has already attracted more than 900 entries, with more expected to enter in the coming week.

Red CentreNATS is a high-octane event, with 180 tyres sent to meet their maker in last year’s burnout competition alone, and a quarter of a million horsepower on show.

The popularity of Red CentreNATS is clear, with five million minutes of video from the 2020 event watched via official live streams – that’s nearly 10 years of viewing.

Tickets cost just $30 for a day pass or $50 for a 3-day Chrome Pass. To find out more, visit www.redcentrenats.com.au.
