Darwin will host Round 2 of the 2012 Australian Superbike Championship at Hidden Valley from 20-22 April.
Confidence in the Darwin Round by competitors, manufacturers and teams was reinforced with Hidden Valley being awarded 2011 Round of the Championship, for the second consecutive year.
The three day Thriller Pass will enable Territorians to witness first class Superbike action, with four additional classes of road-racing machines taking to the track. The weekend is expected to attract 5000 spectators and I urge Territorians to throw their support behind these elite sportsmen.
The Championship is likely to entice around 80 factory and private teams to Darwin. The teams will bring with them their crew, family and supporters and will provide a welcome boost to our local economy. Some of the teams will no doubt extend their stay to experience the ‘run off’ and the opportunity to catch a Barra.
I encourage you to join me in welcoming the Australian Superbike Championship back to the Territory.
