Local artist applications now open for BASSINTHEGRASS

Territory-based acts are being encouraged to apply for the chance to play at this year’s BASSINTHEGRASS at Mindil Beach on Saturday, 15 May 2021.

Local artist applications are now open, giving NT-based musos the opportunity to play on the same stage as the event’s stellar line up in just over two months’ time.

The organisers behind the Territory’s biggest and best music festival are on the lookout for two Territory artists, who will kick start the 12-hour music program at Darwin’s iconic Mindil Beach.

An experienced judging panel made up of MusicNT Executive Director Mark Smith, DJ Delicious/Hot 100 Breakfast Presenter Danielle McMurrich and NT APRA Representative – Writers Services Phillip Eaton will review the applications and decide upon two winners.

MusicNT Executive Director Mark Smith said the opportunity for NT musicians to play on a major festival stage is especially important given the recent shutdown of the live music sector.

“There is some incredible music being created, produced, performed, recorded and released right across the Territory and we can’t wait to see them rock stages both at BASSINTHEGRASS and across festivals Territory-wide and beyond,” he said.

DJ Delicious/Hot 100 Breakfast Presenter Danielle McMurrich said she was honoured to be selected as a judge for the BASSINTHEGRASS local artist competition.

“This opportunity is as exciting as it will be testing – there are so many great local artists and groups here in the NT,” she said.

NT APRA Representative – Writers Services Phillip Eaton said BASSINTHEGRASS is a great opportunity for local artists to deliver a great show on a world-class stage.

“Applications should represent how this gig will help them move the band forward, and build on the work they have done so far,” he said.

To apply, artists need to be NT residents and provide links to four original tracks, their social media channels, biographies and images.

Applications close on Thursday, 8 April with the winners to be announced on Thursday, 22 April.
