BASSINTHEGRASS: Countdown is on for 2019 People’s Choice BASSINTHEGRASS Music Festival

Northern Territory Major Events Company staff are gearing up to host the most successful People’s Choice BASSINTHEGRASS Music Festival yet, with less than 24 hours to go until gates open to the sell-out event on Saturday, 18 May.

The popular music festival, which is in its 17th year, will be held at Mindil Beach and is set to attract 10,000 punters from all across the Northern Territory and Australia.

Boasting a jam-packed program from 11am right through to 11pm, this year’s event will see some of Australia and New Zealand’s biggest names in music take to the stage as well as local artists and the winners of Battle of the School Bands.

SIX60 bassist and former Darwin resident Chris Mac said “I’m excited to get back to Darwin and play a hometown gig with the boys.

“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do with the band.”

Aside from a brand new venue, this year’s event will also include two stages, more artists than ever before as well as numerous new attractions and services for festival goers.

“The stages for the 2019 People’s Choice BASSINTHEGRASS Music Festival are set and excitement levels are well and truly building with just a matter of hours until the gates open at Mindil Beach,” said NT Major Events Company General Manager Tim Watsford.

“This year’s festival is going to be a game-changer for Darwin, with some of the best Australian and New Zealand music artists in town for this much-loved, 17th annual event.

“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome everyone to our new venue tomorrow, with 12 hours of non-stop entertainment ready to kick off at 11am at the stunning and iconic Mindil Beach.”

Members of the public are reminded that tickets will not be available to purchase at the gate, with the event selling its final tickets on Thursday, 16 May.
